Please note: only user with the "Edit Recipes" permission can generate and manage nutrition labels.
Before proceeding, we recommend reading the Nutrition labels overview article to best understand what comprises a generated nutrition label.
Below is a guide on how to navigate the edit nutrition page.
You can search USDA food items by name, brand name, or by entering their NDB/UPC number which can be located on the USDA food search website.
After associating a food item to your ingredient, the caloric details will appear on the nutrition label.
There are multiple reasons why an ingredient with a linked USDA food item does not display caloric details on the label.
Ingredient
quantity
orunit
missingCheck that the ingredient on the recipe has values entered on both the quantity and unit fields.
Ingredient is missing a conversion
If you are using an ingredient on a recipe in a volume or count unit, you must have a conversion set on the ingredient to properly factor nutrition details. This is because USDA food items are based on weight units (ex. grams).
Recipe is missing number of servings
Check that the recipe has a value entered on the
servings
field.Recipe is missing a total yield
Check that the recipe has a total yield entered (ex. 1000 g). This total yield will be factored against the number of servings to give you each serving size.
If you wish to further modify serving sizes when exporting and printing the label, please see more details on that here.
If you wish to modify some display settings on your labels, see more details on that here.
