Opsi makes it easy to create nutrition labels from your recipes. The items noted in this article are the elements that consist of a generated recipe label.
Servings & Serving Size
Each recipe will require you to set the number of servings the recipe provides (ex. 8 servings), and also the total yield (ex. 1000 grams). Serving size is then automatically determined by your number of servings against the total yield. (ex. 1000 grams / 8 servings = 125 grams per serving). These fields are all managed on a recipe's Yields
section.
If multiple yields exist on your recipe (ex. 1000 g, 8 cookies, 4 cups), you have the option to display just one or all on your label.
USDA Food Item Linking
The caloric and nutrition information for ingredients derives from USDA food items. Upon mapping a recipe ingredient to an equivalent USDA item, the recipe ingredient will then appear on your label with nutrition details.
Please note: caloric details are rounded according to FDA guidelines.
Ingredient Label Display Name
Many times the name of your ingredient may not be how you want it to display on a nutrition label. Opsi provides each of your ingredients a Label Display Name
so you can have the name appear exactly as desired.
Net Yield %
Each ingredient has the ability for you to modify its Net Yield %
(percent used in the recipe after cooking). By default this value is 100%, however some ingredients like cooking oil can be less than 100%, so this is where utilizing the net yield % field is valuable for more accurate nutrition details.
