Units are used throughout the opsi platform - from recipe ingredients and yields to prep tasks and purchasing details. The platform comes with a wide range of default units, and it recognizes common variations. For example, whether you enter "grams," "gram," "gr," or "g," opsi treats them as the same measurement. This flexibility extends to features like recipe costing, so if you order a vendor item in "pounds" but list it as "lbs" in your recipe, opsi will still calculate costs correctly.
When creating and managing recipes, you'll define units for both ingredients and yields. You can also create and manage custom units in any "Unit" field.
Here's how to manage custom unit fields within recipes:
1. Enter your unit into any unit field on opsi.
2. If you type a unit that opsi does not contain as a default unit, you have the ability to "Add" that new unit. You also have the ability to "Manage" custom units from this dropdown list.
3. Within "Manage" you are able to manage or add any of your custom units. Note: these units are shared across all features of your opsi account.
