Mapping products to ingredients

Please note: depending upon which method you use, only users with the "Manage recipes" or "Manage products" can map products to ingredients.

Mapping purveyor products to ingredients is an important step towards costing out your recipes. By mapping products (which contain purchasing information) to ingredients, your ingredients can pull the necessary purchase information to cost properly.

Multiple products can be mapped to one ingredient, however a single product can only be mapped to a single ingredient. For example, you order lettuce from two different purveyors, which is two different products, but those two products will be mapped to your one "Lettuce" ingredient that's used within recipes.

The following steps must be completed before mapping products to ingredients:

Adding or importing products (ingredient mapping can be done during this step)

There a few methods to map your products to ingredients:

Map within the Manage Catalog module

Desktop steps

1. Ensure you are on the "Products" page.

2. Select the purveyor you wish to map products for.

3. Click the edit (pencil) icon next to the purveyor's name, then choose "Manage Catalog".

4. In the manage catalog view you are able to associate ingredients to each product in the "Ingredient" column.

5. Be sure to "Save & Exit" when you are done.

Mobile steps

1. Ensure you are on the "Products" tab.

2. Select the purveyor you wish to map products for.

3. Tap the edit (pencil) icon next to the purveyor's name, then choose "Manage Catalog".

4. Tap "Edit" next to the product you wish to map.

5. You can associate an ingredient to the product from the "Ingredient" field.

6. Be sure to "Save" when you are done.


Map within the Edit Product module

1. Ensure you are on the "Products" page.

2. Select a purveyor.

3. Click on the product you wish to associate an ingredient to.

4. In view product details, click "Edit".

5. Use the "Ingredient" field to search for ingredients to select from.

6. Be sure to click "Save" when you are done.

1. Ensure you are on the "Products" tab.

2. Select the purveyor you wish to map products for.

3. Tap the name of the desired product.

4. In view product details tap the "Edit" button.

5. In edit product details you can associate an ingredient to the product from within the "Ingredient" field.

6. Be sure to click "Save" when you are done.

4. Click on the ingredient you wish to map a product to.

6. Under "Purchase Information", use the "Add Product" button to associate product(s) to that ingredient.
