Task lists are designed to help keep your team on track with daily food prep and operational tasks.

Tasks are the actionable items that need to be completed within a Task List. There are two types of tasks; standard tasks and food prep tasks. You can create a task list that contains just standard tasks, create a list that contains just food prep tasks, or create a list that contains both! The main difference with prep tasks compared to standard tasks is the addition of on-hand counts, prep counts, par counts, and unit of measurement. Prep tasks can also be linked to recipes.

Food Prep Tasks

The hierarchy of a list containing food prep tasks is as follows:

Task List: The list in which food prep categories and food prep tasks can be created within.

Food Prep Category: A food prep category is an organizational grouping that contains the food prep tasks, and must be created in order to add prep tasks. As an example, a food prep category can be a station or a dish.

Food Prep Task: The actionable prep tasks that need to be completed.

Here are a few examples of the structure of food prep tasks:

  • Shellfish (List)

    • Shellfish Platter (Prep Category)

      • Steamed Lobster, Clean (Prep Task)

      • Mussels, Steam & Pick (Prep Task)

      • Clams, Clean (Prep Task)

  • Salads (List)

    • Wedge Salad (Prep Category)

      • Crumbled Blue Cheese (Prep Task)

      • Country Bread Crouton (Prep Task)

      • Pickled Red Peal Onion Rings (Prep Task)

  • Hot Apps (List)

    • Herbed Bone Marrow (Prep Category)

      • Marrow Bones (Prep Task)

      • Herb Gremi (Prep Task)

      • Country Bread (Prep Task)

Standard Tasks

Standard tasks are meant for tasks outside of food prep that don't require on hand counts, prep counts, unit of measures, etc. Unlike food prep tasks, these tasks do not require to be contained within a category.

The hierarchy of a list containing standard tasks is as follows:

Task List: The list in which tasks and sub-tasks can be created within.

Task: The actionable items that need to be completed within the list.

Sub-task: These are optional, but allow you to create sub-lists of items within a task.

Here is an example of the structure of a Task List with standard tasks:

  • Coffee Station (List)

    • Run Cleaning Tabs (Task)

    • Grind Coffee (Task)

      • Decaf Coffee (Sub-task)

      • Regular Coffee (Sub-task)

    • Run Brew Cycle (Task)

    • Soak Coffee Urns (Task)

Task List Roles

If your account has roles setup, users with view only permissions will only see task lists which their roles are assigned to. Roles are a great way to filter out the visual noise of other lists so users can focus on what's only pertinent to them.
