Managing units of measurement
Managing units of measurement
Updated over a week ago

Units of measurement are used across the entire opsi platform, from recipes, to prep tasks, to products. Opsi has a breadth of default (global) units to choose from while using the platform.

The advantage to using opsi's default units are that we recognize the variations for those units. For example, whether you use grams, gram, gr, or g, opsi will know those are all the same unit! We provide these unit variations as we know everyone has their own preference.

These variations are also accounted for in other aspects of the platform, like when doing recipe costing. For example, if you order products in "pounds" and use the product as an ingredient in your recipe in "lbs", opsi will still be able to calculate costs by already knowing they are the same unit.

You are still able to create, use and manage your own custom units from within any of the "Unit" fields throughout opsi.

Check out how to do so below:

1. Enter your custom unit into any unit field on opsi

2. If you type a unit that opsi does not contain as a default unit, you have the ability to "Add" that new unit. You also have the ability to "Manage" custom units from this dropdown list.
