Please note: only users with the "Edit recipes" permission can create conversions, prep methods and yields.
Before reading this article, we recommend reading the overview of ingredient conversions, prep methods and yields to understand how they work on opsi.
Quick notes on conversions:
When creating conversions, you can only have one unit vertical to unit vertical defined (ie. weight to volume), unless unique prep methods are defined.
For example, the below two conversions cannot exist together on the same ingredient:
5 oz = 1 cup
6 oz = 1 cup
However, if a prep method is defined to one of them, they can exist together:
5 oz = 1 cup, sliced
6 oz = 1 cup
Quick notes on prep methods:
If a prep method is not defined on an ingredient being used in a recipe, that ingredient will look for conversions that contain no prep methods. If a prep method is defined, that ingredient will look for conversions and yields associated to that same prep method.
Additionally, each prep method name must be unique, you cannot save two prep methods with the same name.
