Setting price alerts on items

Updated today

Opsi allows you to set price alerts on Items so you can quickly identify when costs change. This helps you stay on top of price fluctuations from your vendors and take action before they impact your margins.

When a Vendor Item is purchased at a different price than before, opsi can notify you so you can review the change, confirm accuracy, and decide whether updates are needed - such as adjusting recipes, menu pricing, or vendor sourcing.

Price alerts will appear in your opsi activity feed and, if enabled, as push notifications on mobile. To receive push notifications, make sure “Price Alerts” is turned on in your profile settings.

Why Use Price Alerts

Setting price alerts helps you:

  • Monitor cost changes across your Items

  • Catch unexpected price increases or decreases

  • Maintain accurate food cost and margins

  • Make faster, more informed purchasing decisions

Creating a global price alert

You can set a global % variance alert to monitor price changes across all Items.

When enabled, any Item that exceeds the defined percentage threshold will trigger a notification, allowing you to quickly review and take action.

  1. Click "Bonjour" at the top right.

  2. Choose "Business Settings".

  3. Click "Invoice Settings" in the left-hand navigation.

  4. Click "Edit".

  5. Turn on "Item Price Alerts" and enter a "Price change %".

  6. Click "Save" when you are done.

Setting an alert on an individual item

In addition to global alerts, you can set a price variance alert on a specific Item.

This allows you to monitor price changes more closely for high-impact or frequently purchased Items. When the price for that Item exceeds the defined threshold, a notification will be triggered.

  1. Click to the "Items" page.

  2. Open an item you wish to set an alert on.

  3. Click "Edit".

  4. In the General tab, locate the "Price Alerts" section and click "Add alert".

Note: You can only select from purchase units associated with the mapped Vendor Items.
